Led aviation light twin

Aviation Obstruction Lights from Spaceage

Why Aviation Lights from Spaceage?

  • We FULLY meet the ICAO specifications
  • We provide uniform intensity all around as opposed to most lights in market that meet ICAO mandated requirements at certain angles only.
  • More then 75,000 of our Aviation lights supplied till date.

Range of models

We have many versions of Aviation obstruction Lights to suit every need. We offer following broad models:

  • Voltage – 24V DC/48V DC/230V AC
  • Sensor – Internal or External
  • Light intensity – Low intensity Type A or Type B
  • SMPS – External/Internal, Outdoor
  • Bird Spike – With or without
  • Solar Aviation Light
  • Twin/Single Dome

The model consists of TWO lights that are connected to a single 48V DC input. The Light sensor is single. Both the lights switch ON and OFF at the same time. The SMPS is in-built inside the light base.

The model consists of TWO lights that are connected to a single SMPS that is mounted in the shelter. The Light sensor is also connected to the SMPS outside the shelter. Both the lights switch ON and OFF at the same time. Features of each light are:

Light Features (Common to AC/DC):

  • Each light consists of 108 Surface mounted High Powered LEDs sourced from reliable and reputed sources.
  • The LED's are mounted on special base that places the LEDs in uniform arrangement. Such an arrangement requires no additional lens or filter to give 360 dig uniform intensity. This reduces any losses that are usually associated with lens etc. This is a UNIQUE arrangement devised by us.
  • The LED's are mounted in series and parallel circuit to reduce impact of failure, if any. There are 15 circuits in parallel of 9 LED each.
  • Body is made from Aluminum with bright orange powder coating or as per specs
  • Totally sealed from moisture and dust.
  • Silicon based permanent seals are used that are durable and absorbs the expansion of material in hot weather.
  • The cover is made of high strength glass and not plastic that degenerates with time or gets scratched.
  • The light produced by LED's is RED in color and no additional color filters are required. (The filters absorb part of light and fade after some time)
  • Since the light produced by LED is directional in nature there are no reflectors or obstructions to reduce the dissipation of light in vertical plane.
  • Confirms to ICAO Annexure 14, for Low intensity Type B Obstruction light
  • Power Consumption under 4W for each light
  • Automatic ON/OFF based on ambient light

Twin light advantageexternal-smps-features

The two lights act in parallel. In case of failure of one light the other remains lighted. There are two independent sensors.

External SMPS features (Optional)

The External SMPS is mounted inside the shelter. The SMPS converts variable input to stable output DC voltage. The output remains stable to 0.1V even for large variations of input.

The SMSP has a feature to bypass the sensor as well as there are visual indications related to Power and Light ON. User may Bypass the sensor at any time for maintenance or malfunction of sensor thereby gaining time to repair/replace at leisure.

Uniform light intensity feature (Common to all models)

This is one of the two requirements of ICAO for aviation lights (the other being light intensity). Since the time, LED lights were introduced, it was a challenge as to how to produce uniform intensity from directional LEDs. Our engineers have come out with a solution, finally!!

Due to the hard nature of PCB on which LEDs are mounted, most the lights in the market have 6 or 8 faces. Since the light from LED's is directional in nature, the light from such aviation light is not uniform but is a set of 6 or 8 streaks. Some people use secondary optics (Lenses) to make the intensity uniform, thereby wasting light intensity.

However, in case of Spaceage lights, the light pattern is uniform on account of the large number of LED's and special base on which such LEDs are mounted that is perfectly curved. If we look from the top (PLAN), then the light intensity pattern will be as follows:

We actually took pictures of Light pattern at 1m and at 3 meters, we can see bright and dark spots due to varying intensity produced by such lights.

Other popular models in market (at 3 m and at 1m)

Of course, it is matter of common knowledge that the light has to have uniform intensity. Incidentally, this is ICAO requirement too.

Cabling arrangement

We provide a single stand that can mount two lights on it. All the mounting accessories are provided. The control wire between the two lights is provided (single core) but the 2 core DC input cable for the two lights is not included.

Note: We reserve the right to revise features at any time, without any prior notice
