Low Intensity type B 48V DC/230V AC AV Light - Dual Dome STANDBY with FAULT monitoring

Aviation Obstruction Lights- Standby Mode from Spaceage
  • Why Aviation Lights from Spaceage?
  • We FULLY meet the ICAO specifications
  • We provide uniform intensity all around as opposed to most lights in market that meet ICAO mandated requirements at certain angles only.
  • More than 75,000 of our lights are being used with repeat orders from every customer

TWIN DOME DUAL POWER with ALARM

We have noticed that many sites are using aviation lights working on 230 AC. When there is a power failure the light will not switch on until the generator starts. Due to time delay provided in AMF panel or generator’s failure it is likely that generator may not switch on for few hours. This means that the site will not be compliant with the safety requirements.

Also if the only light that is installed fails then again there is no light on tower. It could take a few days to notice and replace the light.

To overcome this we propose a dual input voltage light which works as follows:

  • a) It can take both 48V and 230V power inputs simultaneously. If both inputs are available then system gives preference to electric mains.
  • b) An Alarm Panel is provided in the shelter which monitor the current consumption of the lights. If the current consumption falls below 65% then it is treated as a failure of light and an NMS alarm
  • c) Alarm Panel also monitors Power Input. If both input power fail, then the Power NMS (potential free contacts) are activated.
TWIN DOME, DUAL VOLTAGE with STANDBY

The model consists of TWO lights that are connected to a single Control panel. The control panel ensure that when the first light fails to switch ON (or consumes less than 65% of rated current) then the standby light is switched ON. In case of failure of light, additionally there is a Light Failure alarm provided thru potential free contacts.

Control panel ensures that in case there is a failure of first light then the second one is automatically switched ON. Failure is defined as total failure or if the power consumption reduces to less than 65% (or as defined by user) In this case there is a NMS alarm (potential free contacts) is also activated. Appropriate junction box is provided to connect input cable. 3 core cable is required.

Features of each light are:

  • Each light consists of 108 Red High Powered LEDs sourced from reliable and reputed sources.
  • The LED's are mounted on special base that places the LEDs in uniform arrangement. Such an arrangement requires no additional lens or filter to give 360 dig uniform intensity. This reduces any losses that are usually associated with lens etc. This is a UNIQUE arrangement devised by us.
  • The LED's are mounted in series and parallel circuit to reduce impact of failure, if any. There are 12 circuits in parallel of 9 LED each.
  • Body is made from Cast Aluminum with bright orange powder coating or as per specs
  • Totally sealed from moisture and dust.
  • Silicon based permanent seals are used that are durable and absorbs the expansion of material in hot weather.
  • The cover is made of high strength glass and not plastic that degenerates with time or gets scratched.
  • The light produced by LED's is RED in color and no additional color filters are required. (The filters absorb part of light and fade after some time)
  • Since the light produced by LED is directional in nature there are no reflectors or obstructions to reduce the dissipation of light in vertical plane.
  • Confirms to ICAO Annexure 14, for Low intensity Obstruction light
SENSORS

We provide single photoelectric sensor for the two lights. The sensor is mounted outside the shelter. Sensor is provided with it's own mounting arrangement.

Mounting arrangement

We provide a single stand that can mount two lights as shown in picture above. All the mounting accessories are provided. No cables are provided.

Uniform light intensity feature (Common to all models)

This is one of the two requirements of ICAO for aviation lights (the other being light intensity). Since the time, LED lights were introduced, it was a challenge as to how to produce uniform intensity from directional LEDs. Our engineers have come out with a solution, finally!!

Due to the hard nature of PCB on which LEDs are mounted, most the lights in the market have 6 or 8 faces. Since the light from LED's is directional in nature, the light from such aviation light is not uniform but is a set of 6 or 8 streaks. Some people use secondary optics (Lenses) to make the intensity uniform, thereby wasting light intensity.

Twin-dome

However, in case of Spaceage lights, the light pattern is uniform on account of the large number of LED's and special base on which such LEDs are mounted that is perfectly curved. If we look from the top (PLAN view), then the light pattern will be as follows:

8 Face Light pattern

We actually took pictures of Light pattern at 1m and at 3 meters, we can see bright and dark spots due to varying intensity produced by such lights.

Of course, it is matter of common knowledge that the light has to have uniform intensity. Incidentally, this is ICAO requirement too.
